Yesterday Adam and I spent the morning how we spend most Saturday mornings – we got up early and went down to DW Fitness First for a session in the gym. Located at Middlesbrough Leisure Park, it’s just a short 10 minute drive from home and easily accessible from the A66. As we begin our time off over the holidays we decided to make the most of the time we have off together and do some fun things. So after we’d showered in the gym, we went to Cineworld* to book tickets for the new Mary Poppins film, Mary Poppins Returns, in 4DX for later that afternoon. View Post
With Adam working away, weekends are always something for us to look forward to. A couple of weeks ago we’d arranged to go back to one of our favourite restaurants in Middlesbrough for an evening of cocktails, Caribbean food and good music. I’ve talked about Turtle Bay* a few times on my blog already, from when the Caribbean restaurant first opened in Middlesbrough to their tempting 2 for 1 cocktails offer but they’ve recently launched a new menu to encourage social eating – Caribbean style of course!
At the beginning of July we saw the opening weekend of something new and extremely exciting – Orange Pip Kitchen. Setting up shop inside the newly-refurbished Middlesbrough Town Hall, Orange Pip Kitchen is the brainchild of commercial events manager for the Town Hall, Keren Pearson, and the people behind the Orange Pip Market. To celebrate the £7.7 million makeover of Middlesbrough Town Hall*, I’m excited to announce an amazing event coming to Centre Square on Sunday 1st July – Cake Fest Middlesbrough! When the email landed into my inbox I knew it was something I had to roll up my sleeves for and get involved in. Combining two of my favourite things – eating cake and bigging up my hometown of Middlesbrough – how could I not be at the forefront of it?! I’ve always had an inner baker in me and although I’ve never baked a larger than normal cake before, nor have I decorated one with such detail, I’ve been looking forward to stepping up to the challenge. Since opening its doors to the public last autumn, Bistrot Pierre has quickly became a favourite amongst the locals in Middlesbrough. Offering a sophisticated French dining experience that resembles the quaint restaurants and eateries around France, you can enjoy a taste of Parisian culture without the travel overseas. Earlier this month I was invited back to Bistrot Pierre to try the new Spring/Summer menu, I took this opportunity to have a family dinner with Adam and both our parents. View Post
