Cake Fest Middlesbrough

To celebrate the £7.7 million makeover of Middlesbrough Town Hall*, I’m excited to announce an amazing event coming to Centre Square on Sunday 1st July – Cake Fest Middlesbrough! When the email landed into my inbox I knew it was something I had to roll up my sleeves for and get involved in. Combining two of my favourite things – eating cake and bigging up my hometown of Middlesbrough – how could I not be at the forefront of it?! I’ve always had an inner baker in me and although I’ve never baked a larger than normal cake before, nor have I decorated one with such detail, I’ve been looking forward to stepping up to the challenge. Pork BellyNewcastle is a brilliant city for foodies like me, with something to sink your teeth into on practically ever corner, with Grey’s Quarter in Eldon Square being one of my favourite eating spots after a long day of shopping. Walking hand in hand with the impressive food comes a vibrant bar scene. There’s nothing I love more than a casual dose of daytime drinking, sitting in the window looking out onto a busy city and watching the world pass me by (people watching is the best!) as the day creeps into night.    View Post

Mr Petit Newcastle

A couple of weeks ago Adam and I took a trip on the train to Newcastle for a mini break away. During our stay we were invited along to a press event at Mr Petit*, a restaurant specialising in tapas dishes from around the world. Looking at the menu beforehand, they have a diverse menu with combinations from all corners of the world. I love restaurants like this as Adam can enjoy the more daring side of the menu whilst I can stick with familiar tastes and try some new things without feeling like I’m wasting a whole meal by trying something different and not liking it. Bistrot Pierre Middlesbrough

Since opening its doors to the public last autumn, Bistrot Pierre has quickly became a favourite amongst the locals in Middlesbrough. Offering a sophisticated French dining experience that resembles the quaint restaurants and eateries around France, you can enjoy a taste of Parisian culture without the travel overseas. Earlier this month I was invited back to Bistrot Pierre to try the new Spring/Summer menu, I took this opportunity to have a family dinner with Adam and both our parents.  View Post

bakerdays letterbox cake

After an 8 months stint of working away, Adam’s just got a new job back at home. To celebrate, I ordered a letterbox cake from bakerdays* as a little surprise for him coming home. If you read my post about Bloom and Wild a while back, you’ll know I love receiving things through the post and when I came across bakerdays on Twitter a few months ago I loved the idea of receiving something edible through the letterbox. Intrigued on how a cake could stay intact whilst in transit, I placed an order and waited patiently for it to arrive.  View Post
