Following the launch of the new 13 piece brow collection by Benefit, the leading brand for brows, Marie Claire are giving away a free 3.5ml sample of the Ready, Set, Brow! Gel in their August edition of the magazine. This year I’ve been on a mission to even-up and shape my eyebrows after too many years of over-plucking them as a teenager. I’ve been having bimonthly appointments at Paleschi for HD brows and wax and tint appointments in between. I finally feel as though I’m getting somewhere with them now – hallelujah!
I love it when you get a free sample with a purchase as it gives you a chance to try out a product before you splurge on the full size version. I’ve been curious about Benefit’s new brow collection since it launched earlier in June and was excited when my mam told me she got the sample from her Marie Claire magazine. On the pack of the Ready, Set Brow! Gel, it promises ’24 hour invisible shaping and setting gel for brows’.
When I first used the gel, I couldn’t argue that it definitely does what is says on the package. However it left my brows feeling rather crusty which had me itching to pick it off throughout the day. Having not tried a brow gel before, I wasn’t sure if it was supposed to be like this or if I had just applied a bit too much? I’ve continued using the gel over the past week and I had definitely applied too much the first time around! A little gel goes a really long way so there’s no need to re-dip when moving onto your second brow as there’s plenty to work with.
Tips on application
I found that if I lightly applied the gel and used the tip of the brush to set and shape stray hairs, it set straight away and held in place all day. My eyebrows still feel a little bit crispy but you can’t tell to look at them. I’ve managed to get through a full day at work and a session at the gym for them to still be in place from the morning. Although the sample is only 3.5ml, half the size of the full product, I know I’m going to get a few months out of it.
Would I purchase this product again?
Absolutely. Whilst I think £18.50 is quite steep in price, I have very long eyebrow hairs which tend to do what they want so for me this product is a godsend. I do believe it will last a long time which helps to justify the price but hopefully they will include it in some of their gift sets to make it more affordable.
