Fitness | My 5 Favourite Fitness Apps for the iPhone

Fitness apps for iphone

My iPhone is my best friend when it comes to keeping fit. It helps me vary my exercises, track my progress and stay motivated. Today I’ve put together a list of my five favourite fitness apps for the iPhone that I can’t live without.

Fitness Buddy

If you’re struggling with your posture or maybe you want to learn some new exercises to include in your gym sessions, Fitness Buddy is a great help. It’s like a handy pocket guide complete with easy explanations and videos on how to complete a variety of exercises for the entire body.

Nike Running

Over the past couple of years I’ve been trying to get ‘running fit’. I want to be able to run 5 miles for fun instead of struggling to do just one. Nike Running traces your steps via GPS so you can see your route on a map. The Nike app tells you the distance travelled, calories burned and the time it’s taken. To help boost your motivation, you are alerted when you beat previous records for example, fastest mile and longest run.

Strava

Strava allows you to monitor your running and cycling efforts and compare them. Similar to the Nike Running app, Strava tracks your route on a map and provides you with information on your workout such as distance, time and calories burned. What I like about Strava is that you can compare your personal bests with people in your local area which adds a sense of competition.

IntervalTimer

If you’ve read my other fitness posts, you will know that my favourite type of exercise is interval training. Having done Kayla Itsines training guide, I’ve found that counting your reps can be a pain in the arse and can put you off. I decided to get the free IntervalTimer app which allows you to personalise your workouts with different timing intervals whilst adding in rest time too.

Spotify

Not so much a fitness app but I don’t think I’d be able to work out without it! As most of you will already know, Spotify is a music streaming service where you can listen to your favourite songs and albums on the go. You can find practically anything on Spotify, as well as make your own playlists and follow other people’s. I follow a playlist called Weekend Vibes which is updated regularly with some great upbeat songs.
