Today marked the world’s biggest coffee morning in an attempt to raise as much money as possible for cancer support to help make sure nobody has to face the horrible disease alone. I attended the Macmillan coffee morning at Aqua Health and Beauty salon in Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough. Raising funds for the deserving cancer charity, me and mam went along to eat cake, play some games and raise funds to Macmillan cancer support.
Melanie, owner of Aqua Health and Beauty, did a great job at decorating her salon and organising the coffee morning. With bunting outside along with balloons and pom poms to celebrate the occasion, the place looked great. Let’s just take a closer look at that amazing cake in the picture…
This amazing Wispa-covered cake was part of the Spot The Cake game that we played where we had to guess how many pieces of chocolate were on the cake. The game was £2 a go and the winner won half of the money whilst the other half went to the charity.
Melanie had also set up a tombola to win prizes which included beauty items from her salon, cake-making sets and a wooden chalk board to name just a few. I was lucky and managed to win a set of two Jessica nail polishes (in blue and grey) which was great!
My mam also donated some homemade happiness kits which were available for £1 and all proceeds went to Macmillan. If you would like to buy one for your loved ones, you can do so for the normal retail price of £3 on the Flowers from the Heart website.
We played another game where we had to be blindfolded and taste two different cakes; a homemade one and a shop-bought one and guess which one was which. It was really funny watching everybody eat with the blindfold on. The game was fun however it was fairly easy to tell the two cakes apart (maybe I know my cake a bit too much?! Haha).
Have you attended a Macmillan coffee morning? What are your favourite ways to fundraise for your chosen charity?
