Whether you’ve set New Years Resolutions or not, January is always a month that makes you think a little more about your life and how it’s going for you. Over the past week or so I’ve been looking back on what I’ve achieved over the past year and what my highlights were. I thought I’d share them with you all in a blog post so I have a little something to look back on in the next year to compare!
Me and Ross bought our first house together
This is definitely my biggest achievement to date. Me and Ross bought and moved into our first house together and almost a year on it’s finally starting to feel more like a home than a house. 2015 will see us renovate the place some more to make it even more homely.
Minding baby Cooper
As well as spending our first Christmas in our new home, we had a small fluffy guest who we had the pleasure of looking after for two weeks whilst Ross’ sister was on holiday. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably seen plenty of cute photos of Cooper, the Cavachi. I absolutely loved having him around.
1 stone lighter
2014 got off to a brilliant start as I reached my goal weight resulting in me becoming 1 stone lighter and I’ve actually managed to keep most of the weight off! Here’s to maintaining and toning up in 2015!
Attending the Drapers Independent Awards in London
In September I was lucky enough to attend the Drapers Independent Awards at The Brewery in London. Since I started my job at Visualsoft almost three years ago, many of the brands I work with have been nominated for, and won, some awards through the annual Drapers Awards. Picking an award up from The Drapers and The Drapers Independent awards is a massive achievement in the fashion industry and I finally got the opportunity to attend the prestigious event with some of my colleagues. You can read about the event here.
Celebrating my best friend’s birthdays in style
My two best friends turned 21 in 2014 so we made sure we celebrated in style by heading to a comedy club in Leeds and a spa day in York, both of which were followed by cocktails and an overnight stay – eek!
Traveling to Dubai
In September me and Ross jetted off to Dubai for the second time to explore the city in a little more depth. We visited Dubai back in 2012 but didn’t have enough time (or money) to do everything we wanted. This time we went to a magic show at the Trade Centre, went up the Burj Khalifa and tracking down the biggest Hard Rock Cafe we’ve ever seen! If you are planning to visit yourself, take a read of my post on things to do in Dubai and what to consider when packing for Dubai.
I paid off my car
After just two years I managed to pay my car off in full so my cutesy Fiat 500 is officially all mine! I feel a great sense of accomplishment having paid it off and being able to call it my own.
Traveling to Turkey
Me and my friends went on our annual summer holiday and decided to venture away from the Greek islands and try somewhere a little different. In 2014 we decided to visit Marmaris in Turkey and what a great idea that was! It was super hot, really cheap and we had a blast. The boat trip and the water park were definitely my highlights of the holiday.
Exploring the lakes
The first and last time I visited the lakes until last year was when I was 11 and went to Ambleside with school so I didn’t appreciate the scenery as much. In 2014 I was lucky enough to pay a visit to Windermere on a handful of occasions which was great. Everything is so picturesque and relaxing – the pretty place for a romantic weekend or a family break.
Was 2014 good to you? How do you plan on making 2015 the best year yet?
