On the 21st of this month Adam and I went to the Bishop Auckland Food Festival for the second year running in hope to see our favourite pizza van as well as sample food from other local traders. We were praying for the freakish warm weather we’ve been having to stick around for us as we all know the sun makes a day out 100% better! The Bishop Auckland Food Festival is such a fun annual event especially if you’re a foodie like me so I thought I’d share my day with you from how we travelled there from Middlesbrough, what we ate and what we bought to take home with us. On Monday I was invited along to a VIP tasting event to sample the delicious treats crafted up by Dominique Bendelow of Bendelow’s Kitchen. Displaying a grand selection of the many treats available as part of her catering and baking service, me and the other guests were able to sample bite sized portions of desserts which were dotted around throughout the gorgeous venue, The Artizan.
Part of Adam’s birthday present in February was tickets to see the Kell Brook vs Sergey Rabchenko fight at the FlyDSA arena in Sheffield. Due to lots of snow and many train cancellations, we very nearly couldn’t make it but after travelling to Northallerton on the Saturday morning our last minute train detour seemed to go pretty smoothly. I booked an apartment for the night using Booking.com now called Sycamore Suites (it was Eskrine Apartments when we visited) which is located in the city centre of Sheffield, a short tram ride away from our venue for the evening. Earlier this month I boarded a flight to New York for the first time after years of wanting to visit the concrete jungle. Adam and I stayed in the city for a week and covered a lot of the sights in that time with so much more yet to explore. I’ve decided to share some of my experience in a series of different posts over the next few weeks, with the first one featuring the highlights of my holiday. If you’re planning your own trip to New York, I hope this post inspires you. View Post
I really love trying food from different corners of the world so you bet I was pleased when I heard there was a Turkish restaurant opening up in Middlesbrough. Meze Lounge is a restaurant I’d been meaning to try since it opened back in 2016 and it has continued to receive rave reviews. Unfortunately my first visit to the wasn’t until my birthday last year, and I can’t believe I’d actually left it that long. I went back a couple of weekends ago so Adam could experience the food in all its glory since he missed out the first time around. View Post
