Newcastle is a brilliant city for foodies like me, with something to sink your teeth into on practically ever corner, with Grey’s Quarter in Eldon Square being one of my favourite eating spots after a long day of shopping. Walking hand in hand with the impressive food comes a vibrant bar scene. There’s nothing I love more than a casual dose of daytime drinking, sitting in the window looking out onto a busy city and watching the world pass me by (people watching is the best!) as the day creeps into night. A couple of weeks ago Adam and I took a trip on the train to Newcastle for a mini break away. During our stay we were invited along to a press event at Mr Petit*, a restaurant specialising in tapas dishes from around the world. Looking at the menu beforehand, they have a diverse menu with combinations from all corners of the world. I love restaurants like this as Adam can enjoy the more daring side of the menu whilst I can stick with familiar tastes and try some new things without feeling like I’m wasting a whole meal by trying something different and not liking it. I was in two minds whether to write this post or just to keep the special day between me and Adam but with my blog being the place where I’ve been documenting the highlights of my life over the years, it seemed only right to share this special moment here too. As requested by a few people, I’ve decided to share the proposal story of when Adam asked me to marry him on Tuesday 6th February 2018 in New York City – 4 months ago today!
Since passing my driving test in 2010, I’ve bought three different cars. After getting to grips with driving on my own and acquiring my first full time job I decided to wave goodbye to my beloved first car, a Ford Fiesta, and treat myself to a brand new Fiat 500 straight from the showroom. Although my Fiat was my pride and joy during the time I had it, when it came to selling it in 2016 in exchange for something a little bigger, I was surprised and disappointed by how much my car had depreciated in value. Despite looking after it and it having an appealing low mileage, I struggled to get even half of what I paid for it just four years earlier. After this I vowed not to buy a brand new car again because it loses value as soon as you drive it out of the showroom. View Post
Since opening its doors to the public last autumn, Bistrot Pierre has quickly became a favourite amongst the locals in Middlesbrough. Offering a sophisticated French dining experience that resembles the quaint restaurants and eateries around France, you can enjoy a taste of Parisian culture without the travel overseas. Earlier this month I was invited back to Bistrot Pierre to try the new Spring/Summer menu, I took this opportunity to have a family dinner with Adam and both our parents. View Post
