A couple of weeks ago Adam and I took a trip on the train to Newcastle for a mini break away. During our stay we were invited along to a press event at Mr Petit*, a restaurant specialising in tapas dishes from around the world. Looking at the menu beforehand, they have a diverse menu with combinations from all corners of the world. I love restaurants like this as Adam can enjoy the more daring side of the menu whilst I can stick with familiar tastes and try some new things without feeling like I’m wasting a whole meal by trying something different and not liking it. Since opening its doors to the public last autumn, Bistrot Pierre has quickly became a favourite amongst the locals in Middlesbrough. Offering a sophisticated French dining experience that resembles the quaint restaurants and eateries around France, you can enjoy a taste of Parisian culture without the travel overseas. After an 8 months stint of working away, Adam’s just got a new job back at home. To celebrate, I ordered a letterbox cake from Bakerdays* as a little surprise for him coming home. If you read my post about Bloom and Wild a while back, you’ll know I love receiving things through the post and when I came across Bakerdays on Twitter a few months ago I loved the idea of receiving something edible through the letterbox. On the 21st of this month Adam and I went to the Bishop Auckland Food Festival for the second year running in hope to see our favourite pizza van as well as sample food from other local traders. We were praying for the freakish warm weather we’ve been having to stick around for us as we all know the sun makes a day out 100% better! On Monday I was invited along to a VIP tasting event to sample the delicious treats crafted up by Dominique Bendelow of Bendelow’s Kitchen. Displaying a grand selection of the many treats available as part of her catering and baking service, me and the other guests were able to sample bite sized portions of desserts which were dotted around throughout the gorgeous venue, The Artizan.
