For many people, a new year is a time for reflection. I finished 2015 on a bit of a downer but when I looked back on what I’d achieved within the year, I came to realise that it’s been a pretty good one! I think it’s important to pick out the positives from the last 12 months and to set goals for the year ahead so you can stay focused and motivated to achieve the things you want in life. Here’s what I go up to in 2015…
Got Tattooed by Bethanie Wilson
After discovering her beautiful art work about 2 years previous, I finally took the plunge and got a mandala tattooed on my thigh by the super-talented Bethanie Wilson. The local tattoo artist specialises in intricate dot work and I had been wanting a mandala tattooed by her for so long. Almost a year on and I’m still so in love with it. Check out Bethanie’s artwork for yourself by taking a look at her Instagram page.
Left my Stable Job
This was the biggest step I took in 2015. I left my job of three years to broaden my horizons and rediscover myself. Whilst I loved the job I was doing, there wasn’t much room for progression. I learnt so much during my time there but I just felt like my time there was done. I used 2015 as a bit of a gap year so I can find myself and what I want to do, now I’m hoping 2016 will be the year I land the job of my dreams.
Educated myself with E-Courses and Voluntary Work
Following on from the point above, I decided to re-educate myself by completing two diplomas and doing some voluntary work. I have also been learning the ropes of the family business to gain even more experience to pop on my CV. Whilst I had the hands on experience on the digital marketing industry, I need some qualifications to coincide which led to me successfully gaining two distinctions in digital marketing and social media. I also worked alongside a local sweet shop, Chocs Away, to manage their social media channels which was pretty fun too!
Summer Holiday to Turkey
Me and my friends jetted off to Marmaris in Turkey for our second year and we had such a great time! We managed to cram in three boat trips and a Turkish bath whilst we were there as well as sample some amazing food. You can read more about where to wine and dine in Marmaris in one of my posts from earlier in the year.
Mini Breaks with Friends and Family
I’ve been on some lovely mini breaks away with my family and friends which have involved travelling up and down the country to visit the likes of Kielder, Windermere, Birmingham, London and more! I feel so lucky that I’m able to see as many places and I’m hoping to see more in 2016.
Made Progress on the House
One of my resolutions for 2015 was to make progress with the house and we managed to do just that! I got some beautiful sliding wardrobes fitted in my bedroom and a gorgeous log burner in the living room. After almost two years, our house is finally starting to feel like a home and I just love having my own place! This year I’d like to sort out our garden and hopefully convert the little bedroom into an office for myself.
Visited the Christmas Markets in Budapest
For years I have wanted to visit a Christmas market outside of the UK and in 2015 I managed to tick it off my bucket list. In November me and my mam jetted off to Budapest for my birthday to experience the Christmas markets and explore the city. Budapest is hands down the most beautiful city I’ve ever visited and we literally had the best time! Now I’ve got the bug and would love to experience another Christmas market abroad this year too. Keep a look out for my Budapest posts coming up in the next few weeks.
2015 marked a fantastic year for my blog. It was my first full year which seen me attend more blogger events, work with some fantastic brands and watch my audience grow. I feel like I’m really beginning to find my way in the blogging world and I’m hoping to make it bigger and better in 2016.
For 2016 my main aims are to be happy, healthy and to travel. I also want to continue to work towards landing my dream job and to spend more time with the special people in my life.
How was 2015 for you? Do you have any goals for 2016?
