Earlier this week the lovely M who blogs over at The Life of Little Me nominated me for the Blogger Recognition Award (Thanks lovely!). This is the first blogger award I’ve been nominated for and I’m so pleased to be a part of it. Like similar blog awards, the Blogger Recognition award basically does what it says on the tin – it helps new bloggers (like little ole me!) gain recognition for their blog and help them find their feet in the world of blogging. No matter how big or small you think your space on the internet is, it’s another outlet for you to express yourself and inspire others with your thoughts and opinions.
You can read all about the Blogger Recognition Award by clicking here.
What I have to do:
– Thank the person who nominated me and provide a link to the original post
– Write a post showing off the award. Give a brief story on how this blog started and my words of advice for other up and coming bloggers
– Select 15 other new blogs to give this award to
– Comment on each blog to let them know I’ve nominated them
Where did Daisy Daydreams stem from?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved to write. From creating stories and writing poetry to contributing to an online magazine and writing content for fashion clients; writing has always been there at the forefront. I’ve dabbled in blogging before back in the Tumblr days at school and as a group project with some colleagues from work. Although both of my other blogs seemed to frazzle out, I’ve always loved the idea of having my own space on the internet to share my experiences, whether it’s a cool new restaurant I’ve recently visited or a lipstick I can’t leave the house without.
The name of my blog came from my habit of constant daydreaming and my love for all things pretty. Over the past couple of years, I’ve spent hours reading blogs – particularly beauty, food and lifestyle ones. It was only in August this year that I decided to make a blog of my own, and really make a go of it this time. Whilst I’m not HTML queen, I’ve tried my best to learn the essentials in order to make my blog as presentable and user friendly as I can.
Blogger Tip #1
Whilst I’m still trying to get to grips with everything blog-related. One of my biggest tips would be to set up social accounts and make sure you use them frequently. So far I would say Twitter is the biggest and best platform for bloggers however having a Facebook page, Instagram and Pinterest account will also help you to get yourself and your blog out there for the world to see. Make sure you join in on blogger chats such as #fblchat, #lbloggers and #bbloggers and engage with fellow bloggers.
Blogger Tip #2
Be yourself! It’s fine to look up to others for inspiration but try to put your own twist on things, don’t just copy. There’s no point following the herd by writing a rave review about a product that you thought was very average and overrated. Write about what you want to write about and don’t worry about trying to please everyone for the sake of gaining a few extra followers. Play around with your writing style, change up your blog design and experiment with different subjects to help you find a niche that will help you stand apart from the rest.
